AMC Receives 2007 Business Award

...from Genesee Regional Chamber of Commerce

American Medical Careers was recently honored with the Service Business award, presented by the Genesee Regional Chamber of Commerce at its 2007 Business Awards banquet.  Also nominated for the corporate citizenship award, American Medical Careers was recognized for providing skilled medical training to the unemployed and underemployed to help them get jobs.

“This honor is a tremendous testament to our vision and mission,” said Patrice Kaufman, American Medical Careers vice president who founded the school in 2002 with her husband Karl Kaufman, RN.

During the past five years, American Medical Careers has trained well over 2,000 people, who were either underemployed or unemployed, to give them skills to obtain entry level positions within the high-demand medical field.

Among the patient care specialist programs offered by American Medical Careers, students can earn certifications as nurse aides (CNA), phlebotomy technicians (CPT), EKG technicians (CET), patient care technicians (CPCT), pharmacy technicians (CPhT), medical administrative assistants (CMAA), and clinical medical assistants (CCMA).

American Medical Careers was recently approved by the Michigan State Board of Nursing to offer a one-year Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) program, to be introduced at its Flint campus this spring.   Future plans include replicating this program throughout the state.

“Our commitment is to create an innovative 21st century business model of partnership among our owners, instructors and students,” added Kaufman.  “We want to tap into everyone’s creative potential, which can in turn benefit our community-at-large.”

American Medical Career students who earn certifications become employed in a variety of areas including hospitals, labs, pharmacies, doctor’s offices, and long term care.

"Since our school was opened, we have established a reputation for the talent and quality of our teaching staff,” said Karl Kaufman, president of American Medical Careers.  “We are committed to making a difference in the life of each student, by opening up opportunities and helping them build a future.  Our students continually let us know that they want more than a job—they want a career.”
