The Certified Home Health Aide builds on the training and skills of a Certified Nurse Aide.  The titles of Home Health Aide and Home Care Aide are often used interchangeably.  Home Health Aides are responsible for providing basic care to home bound patients.

Subjects include:

• Orientation to Home Health Aide services
• Role of the Home Health Aide
• Understanding and working with various client populations, including communication
• Understanding basic human needs
• Understanding death and dying
• Practical knowledge and skills in Home Management
• Practical knowledge and skills in Personal Care
• Medications in the home
• Emergency procedures in the home

Certification:

Students are required to complete a Patient Care Skills check-off evaluation and are trained to pass the Certified Home Care Aide examination by the National Association of Home Care and Hospice.
